Ateneo inks deal with Southern Leyte State U to provide water supply system in the province
Being the lone university in the province of Southern Leyte, Southern Leyte State University is now in partnership with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) to install a water system technology in the province through the Ateneo Innovation Center (AIC)
The Ateneo Innovation Center (AIC) of ADMU turned over a clean water purification system technology to be donated to the barangays in San Ricardo, Pintuyan, and San Francisco to provide water supply and potable drinking water to the residents and to the neighboring barangays.
Southern Leyte State U reaches out to the baranggays of Benit in San Ricardo, Tautag in Pintuyan, and Anislagon in San Francisco by providing them the rain water purification system. The AIC, led by its operation manager Paul Cabacungan, gave the orientation and training on how the water purification system works. He also gave stress on the advantage of using rainwater as drinking water.
Rainwater contains alkaline which has detoxifying effects and also promotes healthy digestion. The toxins and free radicals we ingest and absorb every day make our blood more acidic. Alkaline present in rainwater helps to neutralize our blood and help our body function in a more efficient manner.
The AIC, together with Southern Leyte State University and facilitated by the office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and External Affairs (REIS) Dr. Francis Ann Sy, will provide the manpower and logistics for and during the installation of the water purification facility. Monitoring and maintenance of the water purification will be done twice a year to ensure optimum operation of the technology.
This is an initiative of Dr. Ian Navarrete, Head for REIS in Hinunangan Campus, supported by the Director for Research and Innovation Dr. Rhoderick Malangsa, and Director for Extension Services Dr. Frederick Aniga.
This is one of the projects that Southern Leyte State U will be implementing in order to address the needs of the people following the devastation of the super typhoon Odette in December last year.
