SLSU-Hinunangan BSED Students Lead the Way in Bibliometric Analysis Training

SLSU-Hinunangan continues to strengthen its research culture with a specialized training on bibliometric analysis, held during at the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES) Conference Room. Conducted this morning, February 17, 2025, the session was facilitated by Dr. Ian A. Navarrete, Head of RIES, and was attended by second-year students of the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) program, accompanied by their adviser, Ms. Mary Almine, from the College of Teacher Education.
The training aimed to enhance students’ understanding of bibliometric analysis, a critical tool in assessing research trends, citation impact, and scholarly influence. By equipping future educators with skills in analyzing academic literature, the session aligns with the university’s commitment to cultivating a culture of inquiry, innovation, and evidence-based teaching.
Dr. Navarrete underscored the importance of bibliometric analysis in academic and professional settings, emphasizing its role in ensuring that teachers remain informed about current educational trends and methodologies. He highlighted how such research tools can contribute to continuous professional development, curriculum improvement, and policy formulation within the education sector.
The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which advocates for inclusive, equitable, and lifelong learning opportunities. By integrating bibliometric analysis into teacher education, the university strengthens its mission to produce educators who are not only competent in pedagogy but also adept at leveraging research for instructional excellence.
Furthermore, the training supports the institutional goal of developing research-oriented professionals who can contribute to knowledge production and dissemination. As Southern Leyte State University advances its research agenda, activities like these reinforce its objective of producing graduates equipped with analytical and critical thinking skills essential for academic and professional success.
Through this initiative, the College of Teacher Education underscores its dedication to preparing educators who can navigate the evolving landscape of education with a strong foundation in research and innovation. The event marks another milestone in the university’s pursuit of academic excellence and research-driven education.
