SLSU–Tomas Oppus Campus Conducts Seminar-Workshop on Developing and Evaluating Modules and Flexible Learning Materials 2.0
Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU–TO) held a Seminar-Workshop on the Development and Evaluation of Modules and Flexible Learning Materials (FLMS) 2.0 for School Year 2025–2026 on October 28, 2025, at the SLSU–TO Graduate School Building. The event was attended by faculty members, student teachers, and education professionals.
The activity began with the opening program and a welcome message from Dr. Norla Grace A. Betarmos, Dean, Faculty of Teacher Education. She encouraged educators to continue creating meaningful and inclusive learning materials. Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, Campus Director of SLSU–TO, delivered his words of inspiration, emphasizing the value of instructional innovation and collaboration. Dr. Leslie Elisa S. Cobilla, Head of the Instructional Materials and Creative Works Development Center, presented the rationale and statement of purpose, outlining the seminar's goal of improving the quality of flexible learning modules. Ms. Rhea Mae Galang then introduced the participants and speakers.
The series of lectures began with Dr. Leslie Elisa S. Cobilla, who discussed the Instructional Materials Manual of SLSU–Tomas Oppus, which detailed institutional standards for module creation and evaluation.
This was followed by Dr. Sybill Krizzia Ledesma's talk on "How to Make Modules Across Disciplines," focusing on adaptability and outcome-based learning. The morning session concluded with Dr. Criselyn S. Sescon's presentation on How to Make Printed Flexible Learning Materials, which demonstrated the preparation of teachers' and students' guides, particularly for BPED programs.
Dr. Mark B. Galdo opened the second half of the workshop with a session on How to Make Flexible Learning Materials Non-Printed via Worktext, emphasizing accessibility and practical use in digital settings. He was followed by Ms. Dorris S. Lintao, who presented "How to Make FLMS in BSIT through Manual," and Ms. Mary Cris S. Orias, who discussed "How to Make FLMS with BSBA through SPLP," each sharing program-specific methods of instructional design.
An open forum followed, allowing participants to ask questions and exchange insights with the speakers. The event concluded with a closing program that featured participant impressions and the distribution of certificates. Icebreakers and facilitation throughout the day were provided by the IZN FS student teachers.
The seminar-workshop emphasized SLSU–Tomas Oppus's commitment to advancing the quality of instructional materials and promoting flexible, learner-centered education. Through this initiative, the university continues to empower educators to innovate and adapt in a changing academic environment. It aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by fostering inclusive, equitable, and innovative learning opportunities for all.
