SLSU, SmartCT Lead “Hour of Code” for AI-Ready Learners
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), through its Faculty of Computer Studies and Information Technology (FCSIT), hosted the “Hour of Code” in collaboration with SmartCT Philippines and the ASEAN Foundation on October 22, 2025, at the university’s Computer Laboratories, rooms 1 to 3.
Led by Master Trainer Emmanuel Dato, the session brought together nearly 100 faculty members and students, including third-year BSIT students and ICTS officers, who actively participated in the Hour of Code and AI Challenge, showcasing their enthusiasm for innovation throughout the coding exercises.
The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ coding and artificial intelligence (AI) literacy through hands-on exercises that encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
The initiative ignited curiosity and innovation among the university’s students and faculty, marking another step forward in the country’s digital transformation.
