14 SLSU programs face AACCUP Accreditation
14 programs of Southern Leyte State University undergo accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on August 20-25, 2018.
The BS in Civil Engineering, BS in Electrical Engineering, and BS in Mechanical Engineering of the main campus are being accredited for Level III. Meanwhile, its BS in Computer Engineering, BS in Food Technology, Master of Science in Information Technology and the Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management are being accredited for Level I.
Two programs, namely, Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education, of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) at Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte and are also being accredited for Level III.
The BS in Information Technology and Bachelor of Agricultural Technology of the College of Aquatic and Applied Life Sciences (CAALS) at Bontoc, Southern Leyte are being accredited for Level II.
The BS in Entrepreneurship of the College of Business and Management (CBM) at San Juan and the BS in Agricultural Entrepreneurship at at the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) at Hinunangan, Southern Leyte are being accredited for Level I. On the other hand, the Area VI of the Bachelor of Secondary Education of CAES is being revisited for Level II.
The AACCUP stressed that programs that have passed the standards, and are awarded accreditation status will lend prestige to the university, justified by the possession of quality standards and unremitting efforts to maintain them at high level, help parents to know which program they may send their children to for quality education, make all those engaged in education aware of standards of excellence which they should strive to attain, make possible for those proposing funding and those who are to fund, to know what to support and how much support is needed, and make possible for an evaluated program to know its strength and weaknesses, and in what aspects it needs to develop.
