Southern Leyte State University Joins 3rd PAPSAS VIII Regional Conference, Advancing Student Affairs Excellence
Southern Leyte State University strengthened its commitment to delivering responsive and student-centered services through its participation in the 3rd Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services (PAPSAS) Region VIII Regional Conference held on December 3–5, 2025 at the Fan’s Hotel, Palo, Leyte.
The delegation was led by Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services, together with Directors Ms. Jessa Laarni B. Espinas, Dr. Benjo O. Paca, Ms. Geanrose Colonia, and Ms. Gretta D. Guiroy. Joining them were the various Unit Heads, Coordinators, Advisers, and SAS Practitioners across all SLSU Campuses. The delegation was even awarded as the biggest for this year’s conference with participant breakdown as follows: (12) Main Campus, (10) Tomas Oppus Campus, (10) Bontoc Campus, (2) San Juan Campus, (2) Hinunangan Campus, (3) Maasin City Campus, totaling to 39 delegates from Southern Leyte State University.
The three-day conference officially began with the arrival and registration of participants, followed by a Holy Mass and the opening ceremony. On the second day, participants engaged in a series of specialized sessions that addressed critical aspects of student affairs and institutional safety. The conferences concluded with the Gawad PAPSAS R8 Awards Night, which recognized outstanding SAS practitioners and provided an avenue for networking and celebration.
Through its full participation in the conference, SLSU-Main Campus gained valuable insights and strengthened its commitment to enhancing student welfare, safety, and service delivery. The conference further reinforced regional collaboration and highlighted the collective efforts of institutions in advancing student affairs practice across Eastern Visayas.
