SLSU Employees Receive Pneumococcal Vaccination Through Health Services Initiative
November 19, 2025 – The Office of the Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services, through the University Health Services Office, successfully conducted a Pneumococcal Vaccination Activity for employees of Southern Leyte State University. The initiative was made possible in collaboration with the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of the Municipality of Sogod.
The vaccination drive prioritized employees with existing comorbidities to help strengthen their immunity and reduce risks associated with respiratory infections. A total of 110 employees—45 male and 65 female—from both faculty and non-teaching staff responded to the call and received their pneumococcal vaccine.
This activity forms part of SLSU’s ongoing commitment to promoting the health, safety, and overall well-being of its workforce. By providing access to essential preventive healthcare services, the University continues to uphold Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, particularly its targets on ensuring healthy lives and reducing health risks through vaccination and preventive care.
The Health Services Office expressed its gratitude to the Municipality of Sogod RHU for their support and partnership, emphasizing that collaborative efforts play an important role in ensuring that employees remain healthy and protected.
SLSU remains dedicated to strengthening health programs and safety initiatives for its community, ensuring that both students and employees thrive in a supportive and health-conscious environment.
