From Campus to Global Careers: Hospitality Management Students Set Sights on International OJT Opportunities

The Hospitality Management program of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management successfully held its international OJT orientation titled “From Campus to Global Careers: International OJT 2025 Orientation” on April 23, 2025. Spearheaded by Alma M. Arnejo, the OJT Coordinator and Program Head of the Hospitality Management Program, supported by the Dean, Dr. Dinah F. Catamco and selected faculty members. The event was attended by third-year Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) students of Southern Leyte State University, together with their parents. The orientation served as a key initiative to equip students and their families with essential knowledge and guidance in preparation for the international On-the-Job Training scheduled for January 2026.
Five reputable consultancy agencies took part in the orientation, namely Adapper Management Consultancy Services, BRYDGE Alliance Linkages, Inc., Ediphi, JVB Training and Visa Solutions, and Outbound Education and Internships. Each agency presented its programs, highlighting international internship opportunities in major hospitality destinations such as Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, the United States of America, France, and Switzerland. They also discussed the range of services they provide—including visa assistance, placement support, and cultural training—giving students a wide array of options that align with their aspirations. The active involvement of parents during the session further emphasized the university’s commitment to transparency, student safety, and shared decision-making.
The orientation highlighted the importance of global exposure in shaping future hospitality professionals. By venturing beyond local settings, students are expected to enhance not only their technical skills but also develop critical soft skills such as self-reliance, discipline, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to thrive outside their comfort zones. The university hopes that these international experiences will empower students to become globally competitive, industry-ready professionals equipped to succeed in the dynamic and diverse world of hospitality.
