Southern Leyte State University Faculty and Regional Partners Provide Technical Assistance to Ormoc City for National Literacy Award
Ormoc City has emerged as a national finalist for the prestigious Gawad Liyab National Literacy Award 2024. In this context, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), along with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region VIII and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Regional Office, has provided technical assistance to Ormoc City on August 29, 2024.
Dr. Alfredo Cafe, ALS Regional Supervisor; Mr. Linnito M. Pascual, NEDA RO8 EnP Supervising Economic Development Specialist; and Dr. Norla Grace A. Betarmos, Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Education at SLSU-TO, are members of the regional selection committee. After reviewing documentary evidence and conducting validation, the committee shared their inputs during an exit conference.
The collaboration between these regional agencies highlights a strong support system aimed at advancing literacy and educational standards. The technical assistance provided has been instrumental in guiding Ormoc City through the competitive selection process. With this backing, there is strong optimism that Ormoc City will not only excel but also set a new benchmark for sustainable and impactful literacy services in the region and beyond. The commitment demonstrated by the Ormoc City Literacy Team has been commendable. Their proactive measures and dedication to transforming the lives of individuals in their service communities set a high standard.
