SLSU- TO Conducts SLSU Campus Day with Research Congress Competition 2024
As one of the scholarly events during the 20th Charter Anniversary celebration of SLSU-Tomas Oppus Campus, students from different areas of specialization congregated in the Graduate School Building at February 20, 2024, Tuesday, and presented their papers for the research competition.
The activity began exactly at 1:00 PM with an invocation and reading of the mechanics and criteria by Dr. Mark B. Galdo. One of the mechanics highlighted by Dr. Galdo is the time frame given, wherein each presenter is allowed 10 minutes to briefly discuss the highlights of their research, while other co-authors of the research where given the chance to hold the mic during the 5-minute question-and-answer portion.
The giving of certificates took place after the presentation of all groups, and the awarding proceeded. Three best papers were recognized per category. First, the winner of the best paper in the Education Category was from the BSED English entitled "Problems and Challenges in Hybrid Learning: Inputs for a Hybrid Learning Model," with its Presenter, Emelle Justin Adcor and his Co-authors; Baby Jade Inutan and Alma Igot. Second, the "Factors Influencing Students Science Education Self-Efficacy in the Hybrid Learning Modality," presented by Joshua E. Orais and his Co-authors; Lyza Marie A. Castulo, Jomari James S. Gilo, and Shiello P. Juanico. Third, was the BSEd Mathematics study entitled "Metacognitive Strategies in Learning Mathematics: Junior High School Students’ Preferences" with its presenter Jayvee L. Pelenio and his Co-authors; Marivic R. Obra, Shiella Marie E. Cuares, Maria Cleofe L. Bernadez, and Ana Rose S. Agopita.
Furthermore, three best papers were also recognized from the Information Technology Category. First, the Best paper was given to the study entitled "Event Tabulation System," presented by Alex Kaindoy Jr. and his Co-author, Fiona Marie Caliao. Second, was the study entitled "Queuing System Using QR Code for University Front-line Offices," presented by Charles Fonzy C. Varquez and his Co-authors; Crissa T. Malig-on, Ricardo Mosley D. Ramos, and Melvin P. Siega. Third, is the study "Cloud-Based Voting System," presented by Benidic Espinosa and his Co-authors; Nhald Venson Noval and Mary Ann Paler.

The event highlighted the dual importance of research dedication. The recognition of research excellence served as an inspiration to continue pursuing scholarly endeavors.
