SLSU MCC receives recognition from DepEd Maasin City Division for successful project implementation
In the first quarter of 2024, SLSU-Maasin City Campus faculty members successfully wrapped up their series of seminar-workshops for the Basic Education teachers of the schools of DepEd - Maasin City Division under the extension project SHIELDS (Safe, Healthy, and Inclusive Environment of Learning and Development in Schools).
The activities, which primarily focused on bullying cases and violence in schools and how it affects learners' holistic development, teachers' guides to child protection and the various mechanisms for handling such abuses, the development of school-based child protection policies and the formation of child protection committees, and the creation of advocacy materials to aid in spreading awareness of the value of fostering a safe and healthy learning environment, were actively participated in and completed by 190 participants, school heads and child protection coordinators.
The project's next phase will focus in the monitoring and observing how the initiative helps the school and its stakeholders maintain and foster a welcoming environment for learners in their individual settings.
