Southern Leyte State University boosts International Ties with Vietnam Association of Community Colleges
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) forged global academic network by entering multiple Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with various Vietnamese educational institutions during the Annual Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) conference on January 13-14, 2024, at Quang Nam University.
The VACC, known for its role in enhancing the quality of higher education and fostering international cooperation among community colleges, comprises a network of institutions across Vietnam dedicated to providing quality community college education. As members, these institutions share resources, expertise, and opportunities to ensure their students and faculty are at the forefront of higher education and vocational training.
The freshly inked agreements between SLSU and its new Southeast Asian partners have been identified as strategic engagements aimed at paving the way for active Student Exchange and Faculty Exchanges Programs.
Dr. Duarte and his colleagues also extended their initiative to Hanoi International College at Hanoi Vietnam, where they concluded in the signing of MOUs on January 16, 2024, expanding SLSU’s reach even further within Vietnam for academic cooperation, exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and other collaborative activities that could benefit both institutions.
These consecutive momentous events were graced by the SLSU and VACC representatives from Quang Nam College, Kon Tum College, Dong Thap Community College, Phuong Dong Da Nang College, and Quang Ngai College, and additionally, Hanoi International College.
Dr. Jude A. Duarte, SLSU president, led the delegation from the Philippines, which included distinguished campus directors Constantino G. Medilo, Jr. from the Tomas Oppus Campus, and Dr. Frederick C. Aniga from the Maasin City Campus.
The upcoming exchange programs are anticipated to roll out in the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. These programs offer students and faculty innovative learning and teaching environments, exposure to diverse cultural experiences, and opportunities to develop internationally relevant skills.
President Duarte expressed optimism that these MOUs will spark a transformative period for SLSU.
