SLSU forges partnership with DepEd - Maasin City Division for Extension Project on Intellectual Property Protection
Southern Leyte State U and the Department of Education - Schools Division of Maasin City has formally come together for an extension project entitled, Building Up the Skills for Intellectual Property Protection, through a signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on October 16, 2023, at the Maasin City Division office. This collaboration enhances awareness and skill sets among TECHVOC, Science, and TLE secondary teachers.
Taking the lead were, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, representing Southern Leyte State University, and on the other side of the table, Dr. Genis Murallos, the Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Maasin City Division, assumed the role of the second party.
The Knowledge Technology Transfer Office, under the Vice-President for Research and Extension Services, presented a specific extension activity to enhance educators' skills and knowledge.
The "Building up the Skills for Products Intellectual Protection Project" seeks to raise awareness and capacitate teachers, ensuring they are well-equipped to safeguard intellectual property in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.
The MOA signing ceremony was attended by esteemed individuals deeply committed to the success of this endeavor. Among the witnesses were Ms. Rizi Mae Codal, the Senior Education Program Specialist for HRD, researchers, and teachers from the Maasin City Division. Dr. Angel T. Sabusab, the Director for Extension Services, Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, the Innovation and Technology Support Office Head, Engr. Jonnelle Tablada and Ms. Rio Katrina Avila, patent drafters from Southern Leyte State University, lent their expertise and support to this initiative.
