Southern Leyte State U conducts simulation for limited f2f classes on April 4
It is official! The Southern Leyte State University gates will soon welcome students to participate in the limited face-to-face classes come April 4, 2022.
University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes received the Safety Seal Certificate from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the conduct of the simulation on Monday, March 22, as it gears up for the eventual return of the limited face-to-face classes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the looming threat of its variants.
The Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms the compliance of an establishment with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph, DILG says on its website.
The simulation is in compliance with the joint memorandum circular number 2021-004 of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Health (DOH).
Southern Leyte province has been under alert level 2 for the past five months and was qualified for the first phase of the implementation period in December last year. The delay was caused by the onslaught of super typhoon Odette in which the province of Southern Leyte was greatly affected.
With the University officials, DILG representatives, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Sogod town Vice Mayor Jose Ramil Golo, Southern Leyte State U is prepared for the return of limited face-to-face classes despite the pandemic. The school has been fitted with temperature scanners, alcohol dispensers, foot baths, availability of COVID facilities, and personnel-in-charge for monitoring and maintaining social distancing and ensuring the compliances of health protocols.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anabelle M. Hufalar explained that aside from its preparations for the limited face-to-face classes, the LGU also improved the distance learning of students and teachers alike.
It can be recalled that it was during Kapihan sa SLSU 2022 that Dr. Yepes announced the April 4 limited face-to-face classes before the presence of the local media.
Southern Leyte State U has applied for the conduct of the limited face-to-face classes last year for the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022 intended for the laboratory subjects of the 2nd year, 3rd year, 4th year, and graduating students of Industrial Technology, Food Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Hotel Management, and Tourism Management.
