Yepes, Calva participate in Global Academic Leadership Program
The Southern Leyte State University President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes and Vice President for Administration and Finance Mabel R. Calva participated in the online International Continuing Professional Education (ICPE) Program of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) entitled "Global Academic Leadership Program (GALP)".
The first out of four modules of Cohort 3 is launched on April 26, 2021, which will run until May 7, 2021.
This activity is highly selective participated only by State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) Presidents, together with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Regional Directors, who are nominated by their respective CHED Commissioners.
Dr. Yepes and Calva were nominated by CHED Commissioner Dr. Aldrin A. Darilag. The nomination was then approved by CHED.
GALP provides essential transformative leadership skills for academic leaders of SUCs to meet the needs of the 21st century with competencies in moving towards Smart Universities. It also translates the new Vision and Mission of CHED into new ideas and project proposals addressing the new normal conditions of the Philippine education responsive to changing social, economic, and governance needs.
Likewise, GALP also equips with concepts, frameworks, principles, and innovative tools to perform mandated leadership functions which will strengthen the participants' problem-solving, decision-making, and team-building skills given the challenges of the 21st-century learnings and the new perspective of the 4th industrial revolution.
ICPE Grants are adopted and promulgated as an additional component of the CHED Memorandum Order No. 25 series of 2016, Guidelines for the Professional Advancement and Postdoctoral Study Grants for Faculty and Staff during the K to 12 Transition Period in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act No. 7722, otherwise known as the “Higher Education Act of 1994’ and pursuant to the Commission en Banc Resolution (CEB) No. 784-2020, dated 30 October 2020.
The second, third, and fourth modules are scheduled on July 19-30, 2021, October 11-22, 2022, and January 4-February 4, 2022, respectively.
