Southern Leyte State U receives awards for excellent journal publications

Southern Leyte State University brought home three awards from the Visayas-Mindanao Consortium for Journal Publication, Inc. (VMCJPI) during the year-opener celebration on March 30, 2023, at Cebu Normal University.
Out of three categories, Southern Leyte State U have obtained two silver awards and one bronze award.
The silver recognition of Dr. Roberto N. Padua Award was given to Southern Leyte State U for manifesting exemplary leadership in research by producing high-impact scientific papers and meritorious sharing of expertise as resource persons in various academic fora, conferences, and capability development.
Southern Leyte State U has built an excellent reputation for utilizing advanced research methodologies to propagate knowledge and improve communities through ethical and relevant research undertaking.
The Dr. Roberto N. Padua Gold and Bronze Awards were given to Cebu Normal University (CNU) and Bukidnon State University (BukSU), respectively.
The Journal of Education and Human Resource Development of Southern Leyte State U, on the other hand, received the Journal Impact Factor Bronze Award for having earned 0.4 JIF for 2022, for manifesting its relevance and quality, and providing direct and indirect impacts to stakeholders globally.
Meanwhile, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and Samar State University (SSU) won the Journal Impact Factor Gold and Silver Awards, respectively.
Southern Leyte State U is also a Silver Awardee for Exemplary Journal Award for exemplifying quality publication in terms of peer-review policy, diversity in the geographical distribution of editors and authors, journal citation, timeliness of publication, number of issues per year, journal availability, publication ethics and malpractice statement, and indexation.
USJR tied Southern Leyte State U for the Silver award, while BukSU, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), and University of Northern Philippines (UNP) won the Bronze award. There were no qualified winners for the Gold award this year.
University President and the concurrent Chairperson of the VMCJPI Board of Directors, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, is very much happy with the achievements of SLSU in terms of journal publication, as well as that of other member institutions in the consortium.
Moreover, Dr. Duarte encouraged all the institutions to collaborate and make scholars, academicians, researchers, and students from various disciplines participate in a learning exchange of trends and issues in methodological advances in research.
“Let us continue to bridge communication between and among individuals and institutions in the promotion of knowledge,” Dr. Duarte added.
This is the first-ever awarding ceremony of VMCJPI since its establishment in 2016. During the event, Guimaras State University (GSU), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), and Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) took their oath of commitment as the newest members institutions of the consortium.
VMCJPI is a non-stock corporation composed of higher education institutions in the Visayas and Mindanao, including Southern Leyte State U.
