SLSU–Tomas Oppus Holds International Seminar on AI-Driven Creative Works
Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO) Campus, through its Office of Instructional Materials and Creative Works Development Center, conducts a blended international seminar titled “AI-Driven Creative Works: Exploring Advantages and Challenges in Teaching and Learning” at the Graduate School. The event is attended by the SEA-Teacher Pre-Service and Student Intern Batch 11 of SLSU-TO and Universitas Islam Darul ‘Ulum (UNISDA), Indonesia, as well as Dr. Lilibeth Tindugan, Program Head of the Graduate School.


The seminar is spearheaded by Dr. Leslie Elisa S. Cobilla in collaboration with the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies of SLSU-TO. It brings together educators and students to examine the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in creative works and education. Four resource speakers lead discussions on key aspects of AI integration. Mr. Stephen Naul opens the program with a session on integrating AI tools into the creation of creative works, focusing on practical applications in academic and creative settings. Ms. Ava Grace P. Pabuaya follows with a discussion on the advantages of AI in creative works, highlighting its potential to improve efficiency, foster innovation, and expand access to creative opportunities. Meanwhile, Ms. Ana Bacorro addresses the challenges of AI in creative works, emphasizing ethical concerns, issues of originality, and limitations in AI-generated outputs. Dr. Cobilla concludes the seminar with a talk on evaluating AI-generated creative works, underscoring the importance of assessment standards, authenticity, and maintaining academic integrity.

The seminar emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to AI adoption in education, encouraging participants to harness its benefits while addressing its limitations. It also highlights SLSU-TO’s commitment to innovation and responsive academic initiatives in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This activity aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education.
