SLSU Programs Undergo AACCUP Preliminary and First Survey Accreditation
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) welcomed the accreditation team from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) for the Preliminary and First Survey Visit scheduled on March 16–20, 2026, covering selected academic programs from the Hinunangan and Tomas Oppus Campuses. The five-day evaluation marks an important step in the university’s continuing efforts to strengthen academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and program excellence.

The accreditation covers the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (First Survey), and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, and Bachelor of Physical Education (Preliminary Survey). The opening program gathered university officials, faculty members, program owners, and the AACCUP accrediting team who will conduct document validation, interviews, and program evaluation throughout the visit.
In his welcome message, University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte highlighted the importance of the activity, noting that “for SLSU, accreditation is more than a compliance requirement—it is an opportunity for reflection, growth, and continuous improvement.”

AACCUP Coordinator Dr. Erly M. Martir also emphasized that accreditation strengthens institutional commitment to quality assurance, stating that “it is not merely an evaluation, but a shared endeavor toward institutional growth and development.”
Throughout this week, the programs will participate in breakout sessions and program-level evaluations as the university works closely with the AACCUP team toward strengthening academic standards and delivering transformative education for its students and communities.
Through this ongoing accreditation process, SLSU continues to strengthen its commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement, contributing to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.
