SLSU-Hinunangan Launches Centralized Call Training, Pioneers First SIP Number in Province

Southern Leyte State University – Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) took a major step toward enhancing campus-wide communication with the conduct of its Digital Literacy Training: Empowering Communication Through Centralized Call Technology on August 7, 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Academic Building (MAB).
The training, spearheaded by the Campus Information and System Analytics (CISA) unit under the leadership of Mr. Jonathan L. Pasayan, introduced an innovative communication system designed to connect faculty, staff, and students across all SLSU campuses without the need for costly internet subscriptions. This Centralized Call Technology marks a shift from traditional communication methods toward a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective solution.
The event gathered both technical experts and academic stakeholders. Engr. Sajid N. Macabalang delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the importance of digital readiness in higher education. Mr. Marlon M. Bariuad, Chief Security Officer and Data Protection Officer, followed with an in-depth discussion on the purpose, security features, and advantages of the Centralized Call Management System, highlighting its role in streamlining internal communication and ensuring data protection.
The highlight of the training featured hands-on exercises led by Mr. Pasayan, covering the installation, activation, and navigation of relevant communication applications. Participants—comprising faculty members, administrative staff, and students—gained practical skills that will enable them to use the system effectively in their day-to-day academic and administrative tasks.
In line with the launch, SLSU-HC released its official campus hotlines:
- 053 864 0000 (First SIP number of its kind in the entire province of Southern Leyte)

- 0919 067 2841
- 0908 810 3911
- 0947 898 4431
University officials expressed gratitude for Mr. Pasayan’s expertise and leadership in implementing the project, noting that the training aligns with SLSU’s mission to integrate modern technology into academic and operational systems.
This initiative also reinforces the university’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by advancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the promotion of digital literacy, supporting SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) with the adoption of cutting-edge communication technology, and fostering SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by enhancing inter-campus collaboration and connectivity.
With this development, SLSU-Hinunangan strengthens its commitment to leveraging innovation in service of education, operational efficiency, and stronger institutional connectivity.
