SLSU-TO Facilitates Writeshop for Journal-Ready Papers

Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU-TO), through the Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (RIES), facilitated a writeshop titled “Refine and Submit: A Writeshop for Journal-Ready Papers” on August 20, 2025 (Wednesday) at the Graduate School Function Hall. The activity was intended for researchers and faculty members who have already completed their research papers but have not yet submitted them for publication. It was designed to serve as the final step toward journal submission by guiding participants in refining their manuscripts, aligning their work with the standards and guidelines of reputable academic journals, and receiving valuable feedback from peer reviewers and journal editors.
Dr. Marvin S. Daguplo, an expert and faculty member of the Mathematics Education Program, served as the resource speaker of the program. He discussed the author’s submission toolkit for journal publication, which served as a practical guide to getting research published. His presentation highlighted key aspects such as preparing before the study and writing begin, selecting an appropriate journal, presenting the manuscript, and following a presubmission checklist. Attendees also raised questions regarding the use of AI, processing fees, Scopus-indexed journals, and related topics.
By spearheading this initiative, SLSU-TO demonstrates its commitment to fostering research productivity and strengthening the publication culture within the university. This activity supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting research excellence and strengthening academic contribution.
