SLSU-TO LHS Conducts Orientation for Students and Stakeholders

Southern Leyte State University – Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU-TO) welcomed students, parents, and faculty through Panaghugpong: Orientation for LHS Students and Stakeholders, held on August 8, 2025, at the Covered Court. In attendance were Dr. Francis Ann Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VP RIES); Dr. Pritzel Lee Capili, Head of the Student Auxiliary Services (SAS); Dr. Sybill Krizzia Ledesma, Principal of the Laboratory High School; along with other SAS heads, faculty members, and GPIA officers.
The orientation served as a formal opening for Academic Year 2025–2026. The program began with a stakeholders’ meeting led by Dr. Ledesma, who discussed the recent revisions to the LHS Manual. This was followed by a series of informative presentations from SAS offices. Dr. Capili introduced the essential student services offered by SAS, while Ms. Carmencita Orais discussed the university’s health and medical assistance. Ms. April Rose Juble emphasized the psychosocial and counseling support provided by the guidance office, and Ms. Maria Elluisa Misa gave an overview of library services available to students.
The orientation concluded with the General Assembly of the General Parents and Instructors Association (GPIA), led by GPIA President Mr. Johny Caday. Discussions included the financial report, Constitution and By-Laws (CBL), ongoing projects, upcoming initiatives, and the locker system. The assembly served as a platform to strengthen parental involvement and enhance school-community partnerships for the holistic development of learners.
Through the orientation, SLSU-Tomas Oppus demonstrated its commitment to building a productive and inclusive educational environment for the academic year ahead, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
