FOE Conducts “AutoCAD 101: Learning the Basics Online” to Boost Foundational Drafting Skills
The Faculty of Engineering successfully conducted an online learning activity entitled “AutoCAD 101: Learning the Basics Online” on December 17, 2025. The activity was designed to provide participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD and was open to all individuals interested in learning AutoCAD, particularly beginners and those seeking to strengthen their basic drafting skills.
The activity was initiated and organized by the Faculty of Engineering as part of its commitment to promoting technical skill development and continuous learning. The session aimed to introduce participants to the AutoCAD interface and workspace, familiarize them with essential drawing and modification tools, help them understand basic drafting concepts and commonly used commands, and build their confidence in creating simple 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
The resource speaker, Engr. Rec Alfonso Cinco, a faculty member of the Faculty of Engineering, shared his expertise by discussing the AutoCAD interface and workspace, guiding participants through the basic layout, navigation tools, and settings needed to work efficiently within the software. He also introduced essential drawing and modification tools, explaining their functions and demonstrating their application in creating and editing technical drawings.
Engr. Cinco further discussed basic drafting concepts and commonly used AutoCAD commands, providing step-by-step explanations to help participants understand the workflow involved in producing simple 2D drawings. The discussion focused on building confidence and ensuring that learners could follow and apply the concepts presented throughout the session.
To enhance participant engagement, the lecture was followed by an interactive game that allowed participants to test their understanding of the topics discussed in a fun and engaging way.
