SLSU Empowers Student Leaders Through “Youth Voices Against Corruption”

The Southern Leyte State University successfully conducted the activity titled “Youth Voices Against Corruption: Building Social Awareness and Speaking Out with Integrity” on October 21, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the SLSU Mini Theater. The event gathered 40 student leaders representing various student organizations from the Main Campus, all united in promoting transparency, accountability, and moral leadership.
The program formally opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Students and Auxiliary Services, who emphasized the importance of integrity and ethical leadership in both academic and societal contexts. This was followed by the statement of purpose delivered by Ms. Jessa Laarni B. Espinas, Director of Student Affairs and Services, who emphasized the vital role of the youth in promoting anti-corruption initiatives within their organizations and highlighted the workshop’s goal of fostering honesty, accountability, and integrity among student leaders.
The resource speaker was formally introduced by Ms. Beverly Ann I. Isaga, Head of Student Development Services. The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Bryan C. Dayuta, the Resource Speaker, who led engaging discussions and workshops through a series of sessions focused on understanding corruption, the power of youth voice, speaking out with respect, integrity in action, and youth integrity planning.
During the training-workshop proper, participants actively shared insights and reflections, leading to the presentation of action plans that demonstrated their commitment to uphold transparency and ethical leadership in their respective organizations.
The event concluded with the awarding of a certificate of appreciation to the resource speaker and a closing message from Ms. Nenita V. Flores, Head of Student Welfare Services, who congratulated the participants for their active involvement and reaffirmed the University’s continued support in fostering values-driven leadership.
The program stood as a meaningful platform for student leaders to amplify their voices against corruption and become champions of integrity within the University and the community.
