TechQuorum: Localizing Technology-Voices from Adopters and Experts
The TechQuorum session was one of the highlights of the RSTW celebration. It was held on September 5, 2025, at Summit Hotel, Tacloban City. The panel discussion was titled “Localizing Technology: Voices from Adopters and Experts.” Representing SLSU was Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, RI Director, who served as one of the panelists. She shared valuable insights on adopting and localizing technology to address community needs. The discussion emphasized the importance of technology transfer in advancing regional innovation. Experts and adopters exchanged experiences on how localized technologies can create lasting impact.
The session opened opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders and partner institutions. It also highlighted how research outputs can be translated into practical solutions. Through this activity, SLSU reaffirmed its commitment to research utilization and community development.
Honoring of Partners
The Honoring of Partners ceremony recognized institutions that contributed to innovation and technology transfer. SLSU was acknowledged as one of DOST’s valuable partners in the region. In frame is Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada, KTTO Director, who represented SLSU during the event. The recognition reflected SLSU’s consistent efforts in research and extension initiatives.
It highlighted the university’s role in strengthening intellectual property and technology management. Through this recognition, SLSU was encouraged to continue developing impactful projects. The award reinforced the value of collaboration between government and universities.

StartUp Awards
SLSU was among the recipients of recognition during the Startup Awards segment of the RSTW celebration. The award was a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering innovation.
Representing SLSU were Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar and Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada. They received the award on behalf of the institution. The recognition highlighted SLSU’s initiatives in supporting startup ideas and research commercialization. It also affirmed the university’s role in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets among students and faculty. Through its KTTO and RI offices, SLSU continues to encourage research-based innovations. This achievement reflects the success of the university’s technology transfer initiatives. The Startup Award inspires SLSU to further strengthen its innovation ecosystem. It reaffirms the institution’s vision of becoming a hub of research-driven enterprises in the region.
DOST Exhibit
SLSU actively participated in the DOST Exhibit held at Summit Hotel, Tacloban City. The exhibit ran from September 4–5, 2025, as part of the RSTW activities. In frame is Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada, KTTO Director, together with student assistant. The SLSU booth showcased the Solar-Powered Aerator, a sustainable aquaculture technology. Food products developed from university research were also displayed. The exhibit booth received attention from visitors, stakeholders, and partner institutions. SLSU representatives provided demonstrations and responded to inquiries. The exhibit highlighted the university’s capacity for innovation and technology transfer. It also opened opportunities for collaboration with other institutions and industry partners. Overall, the exhibit reinforced SLSU’s commitment to transforming research into practical solutions.
