SLSU Signs Partnership with DepEd Lamongan Regency, and Three Cooperating Schools in Indonesia

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) has officially entered into an international partnership with the Department of Education in Lamongan Regency, Indonesia, through a ceremonial memorandum of understanding signing on April 11, 2025, held at Lamongan Regency Office. The MOU signing also included three cooperating schools: MIS Tarbiyatul Banat Simo Sunge Lebak Lamongan, SMP NU Simo Lamongan, and SMK NU 1 Karanggeneng Lamongan, where they sealed the deal on April 12, 2025, at SMK NU 1 Karanggeneng in Lamongan.
The partnership outlines a wide range of collaborative programs, including academic and cultural initiatives such as the exchange of students, faculty, or administrative staff; exchange of researchers; exchange of academic information and materials; joint research activities; joint lectures and symposia; and other forms of collaboration that promote academic or cultural enrichment.
The ceremonial signing was graced by prominent officials, including Ir. Munif Syarif, M.M., Head of the Department of Education (DepEd) Lamongan; Muhammad Hafidh Nashrullah, S.E., M.M., Rector of Universitas Islam Darul 'Ulum (UNISDA); and Dirham Akbar Aksara, S.T., B.Eng., M.Sc., Vice Regent of Lamongan. Representing Southern Leyte State University were Dr. Gary Garcia, Campus Director of SLSU San Juan, and Dr. Lilian D. Balbon, SLSU SEAMEO (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization) Coordinator. Joining them were Dr. Gwendolyn Tatoy, Dean of the Faculty of Business Management; Dr. Melvin Sarsale, Director for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services; Ms. Lhouremhel Muncada, Head of the Business Management Department; and Mr. Ryan Negros, Pre-Service Teacher Supervisor.
