SLSU is Level III state university, eyes Level IV by 2019
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a Level III state university as per CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 12, series of 2018 dated June 22, 2018.
The 2016 State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Levelling results showed that SLSU is very good in undertaking the functions of a state university but fall short of the qualities of a Level IV SUC.
There are four levelling indicators of SUC Levelling referred to as Key Result Areas (KRAs). SLSU was rated in each KRA as follows: quality and relevance of instruction, 10.95; research capability and output, 7.375; services to the community, 5; and management of resources, 3.25.
All in all, the university obtained 26.575. This is more than two points higher than the minimum points for Level III which is 24.
With this, the university aimed to qualify as a Level IV state university in the next SUC Levelling.
