FHTM Holds Successful Data Analytics Exhibition Culmination Program 2026
The Faculty of Hospitality, Tourism, and Management (FHTM) of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) successfully conducts the Data Analytics Exhibition Culmination Program 2026 with the theme, “Behind the Velvet Curtain: The Art and Science of Hotel Operations,” held from May 5–8, 2026, at the Administration Lobby, SLSU Main Campus.

Organized by the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM)-2A students under their Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) subject, the event serves as a platform for second-year Hospitality Management students to showcase their creativity, analytical skills, and understanding of hospitality and tourism data through infographic-based presentations and exhibits.

The exhibit officially opens on May 5, 2026, through a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the formal opening of the display to the university community. Throughout the four-day exhibit, student infographics remain open for viewing and evaluation, featuring hospitality and tourism-related datasets transformed into engaging and informative visual presentations.
Student outputs cover various industry topics, including tourism and hotel trends, hotel bookings, customer dining behavior, restaurant operations, air passenger statistics, and tourism’s contribution to economic growth. Through data visualization and analytics, students demonstrate how data-driven insights can support informed decision-making in hospitality and tourism operations.

The exhibit is formally evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges composed of Engr. Khorina A. Tablada, Research Director; Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada, Director of Research and Extension; and Ms. Joedizza May Noverra L. Pilapil, Head of the University Information Systems and Analytics (UISA), whose expertise contributes to assessing the quality, creativity, and analytical depth of the student outputs.
The culmination and awarding ceremony takes place on the afternoon of May 8, 2026, featuring opening remarks from Engr. Khorina A. Tablada and an inspiring keynote message from Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Publication, and Extension, who emphasizes the growing importance of innovation, research, and data analytics in addressing real-world challenges.

Following the evaluation process, several groups emerge as winners of the Data Analytics Exhibition Competition, showcasing exceptional skill in their respective sections. For the BSHM 2B category, Group 5 claims the championship title, followed by Group 4 in second place and Group 2 in third place. Meanwhile, in the BSHM 2A category, Group 10 secures the top spot as the champion, with Group 11 and Group 12 earning second and third place, respectively.
Among the champion entries, BSHM 2B Group 5 showcases an infographic that analyzes global air passenger trends from 2017–2023, highlighting aviation recovery and the role of air travel in tourism and global connectivity. Meanwhile, BSHM 2A Group 10 presents an infographic on restaurant customer satisfaction, emphasizing how service efficiency, customer behavior, and operational quality significantly influence dining experiences.
The event recognizes not only the winning teams but also the dedication, teamwork, and innovation demonstrated by all participants. Through the integration of the MICE subject, students gain valuable hands-on experience in event organization while strengthening their analytical and presentation competencies.

Indeed, the Data Analytics Exhibition Culmination Program 2026 is a meaningful celebration of learning, collaboration, creativity, and excellence, reinforcing the role of data analytics in shaping the future of hospitality and tourism operations.
