Southern Leyte State University hosts hybrid workshop on Fairness Opinion Board document preparation
Southern Leyte State University's Intellectual Property and Technology Business Incubation Center (IP-TBIC), under the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office, held a hybrid workshop on Fairness Opinion Board (FOB) document preparation on September 4 and 13, 2024. The workshop aimed to enhance the expertise of researchers, faculty, staff and students in upholding ethical standards in technology commercialization. With a focus on transparency, fairness, and accountability, participants were equipped with essential skills and practical tools for preparing comprehensive FOB documents.
The workshop featured interactive discussions via Zoom on the first day, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of FOB principles. The subsequent on-site session allowed participants to present their outputs. These sessions provided a platform for attendees to explore and address the complexities of technology transfer, reinforcing the importance of ethical practices in the commercialization process.
The event was organized by Dr. Melvin S. Sarsale, IPTBIC Head, and Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, KTTO Director, with the undying support of the Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, Dr. Francis Ann. R. Sy, and Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President. Their leadership emphasized the university's commitment to promoting responsible innovation and maintaining high ethical standards. Dr. Duarte highlighted the workshop's significance in fostering a culture of integrity in research and technology transfer. This initiative aligns with SLSU's mission to drive sustainable development and ensure that its technology commercialization efforts contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
