SLSU-MCC Joins Pabulhon Agri-Aqua & Garden Show 2024

As part of the long-month-long Annual Fiesta Celebration of Maasin City, the Pabulhon Agri-Aqua & Garden Show 2024 kicks off by showcasing stunning expos and exhibits of agricultural and fishery products from the different barangays in Maasin City. Pabulhon is a Visayan word that means a community coming together to help one another, especially during harvest time. On August 9, 2024, Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) actively participated in this year’s Pabulhon 2024, which is situated at the Anatalio Gaviola Plaza.
Mayor Nacional Mercado opened the Pabulhon Festival with a warm welcome message, quoting how grateful he was for the stakeholders’ eager participation in the said event. Former SLSU President, now VSU President, Dr. Prose Ivy Guasa Yepes, also delivered a speech as the guest speaker for this year’s Pabulhon 2024. Her speech encapsulates putting emphasis and attention on the agriculture of Maasin City by helping and giving support to our local Filipino farmers.
The said event was guided by the theme “Kalambuan, Kauswagan, Kalampusan sa Kaugmaon ug Karon,” which highlighted SDG 8 in shaping an economy that works for everyone, leading to a more equitable, stable, and sustainable society for the Maasinhons. SLSU-MCC’s expo collaborated with different organizations to showcased organic products from SLSU-Main Campus Center of Food Organic Research, Lonoy Allied Movement for Development and Advanced Group (LAMDAG), and Lagnason Women Association from Mabini, Macrohon. The collaboration underscored SDG 17 in building partnerships with different stakeholders with the goal of flourishing in creating a sustainable and equitable society. SDG 5 stands as a paradigm for the Lagnason Women Association’s engagement in the said event. The association’s active participation reflects its dedication to advancing women's empowerment and mainstreaming women’s involvement.
