SLSU-Hinunangan Ignites Innovation and Entrepreneurship with Philippine Innovation Day and AGRIBestsary 2024 Festivities
Last Friday, April 19, 2024, the Southern Leyte State University - Hinunangan Campus (SLSU-HC) came alive with a day-glow celebration of innovation and entrepreneurship. Spearheaded by the Department of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship (DAE) and the Business Innovators' Guild (BIG), in collaboration with the Research, Innovation, & Extension Services (RIES) Office, the event marked the Philippine Innovation Day and the AGRIBestsary 2024.
Under the theme "Upscaling Economic Enterprises Through Innovations: Bridging Borders for a Sustainable World," students and faculty members engaged in a myriad of activities aimed at fostering creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. From the Innovation Exhibit to the Business Plan Pitching, participants showcased their ingenuity and commitment to driving economic
growth through innovation.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Vice Governor of Southern Leyte, Hon. Rosa Emilia G. Mercado, who delivered a compelling keynote address. Notable industry figures such as Mr. Tito E. Calooy Jr., Ms. Estiffi Jahn Gryce L. Estrella, and Mr. Gavino Dejito also attended the occasion as guest adjudicators, inspiring attendees with their insights and experiences in business and innovation.
Expressing his gratitude during the welcome address, Campus Director Mr. Wade C. Lim commended the collective efforts of students and faculty members amidst challenges. "Despite the constraints, our community has once again showcased its resilience and dedication to excellence," remarked Mr. Lim, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and perseverance in achieving success.
The celebration culminated in an awarding and recognition ceremony honoring outstanding achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship. The highlight of the day was the Mugna sa Agrib 2024, where student factions captivated the audience with their creative performances, showcasing their talents in dancing and acting.
