Southern Leyte State University Initiates Upgrade of Land Use Development Infrastructure Plan for Enhanced Resilience and Development
Southern Leyte State University continues to stride forward as the collaborative effort between University Planning Development Office, Geographic Information Systems Technology Center and EM DRRM Office initiated its project titled “UPGRADING SLSU’S LAND USE DEVELOPMENT INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN THROUGH THE INTEGRATION OF EXPOSURE DATABASE USING REDAS SOFTWARE OF PHIVOLCS-DOST”.
This project aims to upgrade Southern Leyte State University's (SLSU) Land Use Development Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) by incorporating Exposure database. With newfound proficiency in REDAS and data collection methods, SLSU aims to integrate relevant data into its LUDIP, improving resilience and informing future development decisions.
The commencement of this project was marked by an opening ceremony held via Zoom, attended by key figures including the directors of University Information Systems and Analytics, Environmental Management and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, University Planning Development Office, and Head of GIS Tech Center as well as Campus Directors from External Campuses, and the technical team responsible for data collection. Mr. Jorton A. Tagud of GIS Tech Center provided insight into the rationale behind the activity, followed by an orientation on data gathering procedures delivered by Engr. Ryan Macuto of University Planning and Development Office. Mr. Jerome Jack Napala outlined the schedule for campus visits to facilitate data collection from external campuses. During the ceremony, messages of commitment were expressed by campus directors and representatives from external campuses, affirming their dedication to the project's success. Subsequently, the data gathering operations commenced promptly after the conclusion of the opening ceremony.
The technical team from SLSU-Main Campus is presently preparing to visit external campuses to assist them with data collection following the planned schedule of visit per campus. This project holds the promise of empowering SLSU with enhanced data integration capabilities, ultimately contributing to the university's continued progress and resilience in the face of evolving challenges.
