SLSU-San Juan Campus Faculty presents paper on Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) at ICESMED 2023
Manilyn E. Abaquita, a faculty member of the accountancy department, presented her paper at the 1st International Conference on Entrepreneurship and SME Development (ICESMED 2023) in partnership with the College of Law and the Institute for Small Scale Industries, held at Malcolm Hall, University of the Philippines Diliman on November 28-29, 2023.
Abaquita's research, titled "Prospects and challenges in the implementation of Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) Program in the Philippine countryside," sheds light on the pivotal role of the BMBE program in empowering grassroots microenterprises. This initiative aims to provide essential support and resources, facilitating their growth and success in their respective industries. Despite the anticipated benefits, the program has seen limited uptake among small businesses. Abaquita's paper delves into the reasons behind the low participation rate of the BMBE program in the Philippine countryside.
The success of Ms. Abaquita's presentation at ICESMED 2023 reflects the commitment of SLSU-San Juan Campus to contribute significantly to the discourse on entrepreneurship and MSME development. As the global landscape continues to evolve, the involvement of dedicated faculty members becomes paramount in driving positive change in rural entrepreneurial landscapes.
