SLSU-Bontoc Faculty and student researchers gathered for an In-House Review and Evaluation
With over nine proposals consisting of 8 research and one extension initiative submitted, SLSU-Bontoc undergraduate students, along with two (2) Faculty researchers/extensionists, gathered together on February 7, 2024, at SLSU-Bontoc Marine Biology Building for an In-House Review and Evaluation of Research and Extension (RI) proposals. Presenters carefully laid down the research gaps and enthusiastically presented their proposal to the esteemed panel of evaluators headed by Ms. Janine C. Dimzon, SLSU-Bontoc Research, Innovations, and Extension Head, with hopes to secure institutional funding to support the conduct of their respective proposals. Rated against contents (40 %), delivery (30%), and ability to answer questions (30%), this annual In-House Review initiative is implemented by SLSU-Bontoc not only to nurture an inclusive and vibrant research culture on the campus but most importantly, to support the University’s vision to be a premier Science and Technology university.
In 2023, for such a small campus, SLSU-Bontoc conducted 14 research, innovations, and extension (RIE) programs/projects/activities (PPAs) in collaboration with various partners. These PPAs resulted in two (2) researches published in SCOPUS-indexed journals, eight copyrighted IEC materials, five (5) agri-fisheries related training, and develop 11 new local/national/international linkages with seven (7) sustained partnerships. These and past RIE initiatives also significantly contributed to SLSU in attaining 401+ THE (Times Higher Education) Impact ranking under the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) “Life Below Water.”
