RIES Office holds Mentorship Workshop on Grant Funding, Publication Strategies & Journal Mentoring
A dynamic Mentorship Workshop on Grant Funding, Publication Strategies, and Journal Mentoring was recently held on January 15, 2024, at the RIES Conference Room to empower researchers and foster academic excellence. The workshop brought together aspiring researchers and seasoned experts in an interactive learning environment.
The workshop, organized by the Research and Innovation Office with the support of Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Extension Services, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, aims to address the challenges researchers face in securing grant funding, navigating the publication process, and optimizing journal mentoring relationships.
The activity’s resource persons were Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, Public Health Challenges (Wiley) Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, BMC Global Health Research and Policy (IF 8.7), Founder, Global Health Focus, Professor of Global Health, Global Thought Leader, together with Mr. Jerico Ogaya, Research Assistant, Global Health Focus (GHF). Dr. Prisno shared insights for discovering potential funding possibilities, developing attractive proposals, and navigating every aspect of the application process. Through interactive sessions, participants acquired practical skills to enhance their grant-writing capabilities. He provided valuable tips on manuscript preparation, choosing suitable journals, and effectively navigating the peer-review process. He also shared personal experiences, highlighting the role of mentorship in guiding successful research careers.
Participants left with a deeper understanding of strategically positioning their research for maximum impact and gained insights into fostering productive collaborations and maximizing the benefits of journal mentoring.
