SLSU hosts 2nd District's Disaster Preparedness Assessment

The Second District of Southern Leyte, in a shared commitment with Southern Leyte State University, recently conducted a 2-day Districtwide Disaster Preparedness Assessment on September 29-30, 2023, at the Southern Leyte State U –Main Campus Hotel Lobby.

As an expression of their commitment to leading a disaster-resilient district, Dr. Jude Duarte, SLSU President, warmly welcomed the participants of the 2-day event. Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, spoke on behalf of her office on the research proposals that can help develop the 2nd District into a disaster-resilient district. At the same time, Mr. Gordon Opina, SLSU EM & DRRM Officer, delivered an inspirational message on behalf of Dr. Duarte, who was on an official business travel during the 2nd day. 

The Philippine Army 8th Infantry Division, the Office of Civil Defense, and the Second Congressional District of Southern Leyte attended the event with the MDDRMO of all 12 LGUs in the District.
