SLSU joins CHEDRO8's ASEAN Month Celebration '23

In celebration of the 56th year of ASEAN, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII held its 2023 ASEAN Month Celebration on August 17, 2023, at Tacloban City.

Patrick John Monter, with his piece entitled “Oda para sa Asean,” under the guidance of Dr. Sybill Krizzia G. Ledesma, secured a spot as a Top 3 Finalist for the Spoken Word Poetry category.

Gwen C. Amandoron, SLSU’s representative for the Poster Making Contest, with her coach Mr. Rey Coamabi and assistant coach, Mr. Carlos Martin Irica, also made it to the Top 3 of the said competition.

The Chorale category displays impeccable vocal harmony by a group of talented singers, namely: Kathrina Gallano, Joann Malayag, Arashem Ramos, Realyn Renegado, Angelene Peligro, James Bryan Renegado, Christopher Marlowe Jolejole, Jaymes Dinolan, Andrew Laurence Baclas, and Joshua Angelo Renegado with the guidance of their coach, Rene C. Radaza, also made their way to the Top 3 of the said category.

Meanwhile, contestants for the Dance Sports Category, both the Modern Standard and Latin Dance Sports categories, Cypres Nicole Shane Benocilla, Ma Monica Paula Diaz, James Bryan Butaslac, and Benjac Arcayna, mentored by Mr. Michael Diaz, also made it to the semi-finals of the category.

While the results are yet to be announced, Angela Rose Deluta also honored the institution as she represented SLSU for the Essay Writing Category with the guidance of  Dr. Mary Beth T. Saludsod.

The Top 3 finalists for the Spoken Word Poetry and the Chorale category are set to perform again on August 30 for the final ranking. The winners for each category are also to be announced on the same day.
