Southern Leyte State U acknowledges best employees of 2022
Southern Leyte State University has once again paid tribute to its best employees from across the six campuses of the university for its exemplary performance in 2022 during the Gandilan Awards on March 7, 2023.
Following its launching on September last year, this is the second Gandilan Awards that recognizes employees for their outstanding execution of their respective duties and responsibilities and going the extra mile, and for religiously observing the implemented rules of the university. This event is one of the highlight activities of Southern Leyte State U's 19th Charter Anniversary,
Over seventy (70) employees from the six campuses of Southern Leyte State U were awarded and recognized.
SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD
This award is in grateful recognition of a Gandilan who exemplified the values of excellence, professionalism and integrity, and maintained steadfast commitment to our institution. Southern Leyte State University will be forever thankful for their significant contribution and dedicated service.
Each awardee receives Php 1,000 for every year of rendered service, up to Php 30,000.

BLOOMER AWARD
This award is granted to any unit/department, division, or college for commendable performance of core functions and consistently practicing the 5S methodology (Sort, Set, Sweep, Standardize & Sustain) in office keeping to improve efficiency, effectiveness and economy.
The Office of the Students and Auxiliary Services of SLSU-Tomas Oppus Campus is the lone receipient of the Bloomer Award. The office received a cash incentive of Php 5,000.

LIGHT BREAKER AWARD
The Light Breaker Award is given to any employees who are punctual and are never late in reporting to work. They always log their attendance in the contactless DTR and log book, and accomplish the locater's slip in going out of the workstation indicating the purpose whether official or personal.
Each awardee has received a cash incentive of Php 2,000.

EXTENSIONIST OF THE YEAR
Dr. Mary Ann Jilly Ramirez was awarded as the Extensionist of the Year for achieving commendable performance in the field of extension, and for having contributed to the attainmentof one of the university mandates which is extension.
The Extensionist of the Year award encourages employees to conduct extension services that produce significant output/results to the clients, such that transfer of knowledge or technology is materialized to provide improved quality of life in the community.

FACULTY OF THE YEAR AND OUTSTANDING FACULTY OF THE YEAR
Meanwhile, Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub was recognized as Faculty of the Year (Associate Professor category) and Outstanding Faculty of the Year for having consistently excelled and made contributions that exceeded her normal job requirements, and demonstrated integrity and a strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of Southern Leyte State U.
Dr. Langub received one Gandilan trophy for each award and a total cash incentive worth Php 13,000.

OUTSTANDING EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR
The Outstanding Executive of the Year was being given to Mr. Mark Donald S. Oja, Director of the Institute of Arts and Sciences, for devoting his work and functions to serving the clienteles and stakeholders of the University.
Mr. Oja received a Gandilan plaque and a cash incentive worth Php 10,000.

During her acceptance speech, Ms. Calva, who is one of the Staff of the Year awardees, urge all employees to take time to nominate any employees who they think deserve to be recognized.
“As I congratulate all the awardees who are deserving of these recognitions, I encouraged everyone to take time and nominate yourselves and your colleagues who you think are deserving to be recognized as well. I believe that all of us are deserving to receive these awards because each one of us has contributed, one way or another, to what SLSU has become now,” Ms. Calva said.
On the other hand, Dr. Langub, Faculty of the Year and Outstanding Faculty of the Year, extended her gratitude to the officials of the university, saying that her award is for every faculty member who worked hard and went extra mile in the attainment of the university’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
Gandilan Awards is Southern Leyte State U’s own version of the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) which aims to encourage, recognize and reward employees, individually or in groups, for their suggestions, innovative ideas, inventions, discoveries, superior accomplishments, heroic deeds, exemplary behavior, extraordinary acts or services in the public interest and other personal efforts contributing to efficiency, economy and improvement in government operations which lead to the University’s productivity.
