Southern Leyte State University conducted a consultative forum with Korea-Philippine Educational Cultural Exchange Center (KOPEC) on October 27, 2022 at Hotel De SLSU, Main Campus
President Dr. President Dr. Hoon Young Choi, Ms. Myong Suk Huh, Mr. Seo Byunghyun, and Dr. Roger Alferez met with the University officials to talk about reshaping creative education through language, Arts and Culture towards internationalization.
KOPEC is an organization that presents programs and activities to Korean Government and links up with the Philippines in the field of Education and Culture.
Its first and only office is situated in Cebu Technological University.
Continually moving forward to its ultimate goals, Southern Leyte State U has transformed education which serves as the backdrop for the mobility of teaching, non-teaching, and research staff and students, as well as the internationalization of institutions' research agenda and student curricula.
One of the significant demands to provide education that meets the contemporary setting are language, arts and culture to reshape creative education in order to increase learner’s engagement becoming more flexible, more skilled, and more able to cooperate internationally, building a strong social, and employability dimension.

The Center for Foreign Language and Culture (CFLC) has initially collaborated with KOPEC with a signing of Memorandum of Understanding sometime on July 2022 to support each goals and objectives.
Such collaboration concerns the following thematic ideas such as language, arts and culture which will enable the university to benefit from the knowledge, experience, enhance research to support faculty-student mobility as well as to uplift the University on the international scene.
The proposed plans and initiatives include Korean language instruction for faculty and staff, cultural activities to foster historical awareness and encourage students' creative abilities for personal and professional growth, and a proposed visit to Korea's top university for benchmarking in internationalization, instruction, research, innovations, industry links for internship and career placement.
Further, KOPEC will also assist Southern Leyte State U organize a dental and medical mission as one of the University's social responsibilities.
