Bontoc Campus reseachers, extensionists hold writeshop on interventions for sustainable dev't of aquafeeds

Researchers and Extensionists from Southern Leyte State University-Bontoc Campus undertook a writeshop using the HGDG tool for the Belgian-funded Project: Interventions for Sustainable Development of Aquafeeds (ISDA) at Bontoc Campus. This activity intends to acquaint the RIES head/ coordinators/ members with the HGDG tool; provide intensive techniques and strategies for research and innovations, and determine the best feasible Research and Innovation PPAs for the community to address Gender Issues. The Project ISDA, or the Interventions for Sustainable Development of Aquafeeds, is a collaborative Belgian-Funded project intended to provide interventions to produce cheap, locally available, and nutrient-rich aquafeeds.

This project was proposed due to the highly fluctuating, waste-producing, and calamity-prone agriculture sector in Southern Leyte, which hampers the efficiency of fish production by small-scale fish farmers. The high cost of commercial aquafeeds is a detriment to local fish production. As a result, ISDA emerged as a promising alternative for food security and revenue gain, especially for the local fish farmers in Southern Leyte.
