CHED grants 9M to CHTM for hotel upgrade as industry-based training industry
The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) of Southern Leyte State University has been granted Php 9 million by the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) to improve Hotel de SLSU, a lodging situated inside the Southern Leyte State U-Main Campus.
Through CHED's Initiated Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG), CHTM's project proposal entitled "SLSU Hotel as Industry – Based Training Facilities for Global Hospitality and Tourism Management" was chosen by CHED as one of the projects granting an amount of Php 9 million.
The hotel upgrade aims to provide much-improved facilities and equipment for the students, faculty, and stakeholders. Moreover, this will help the college to explore experimental research that will contribute to the achievement of the University’s vision and later will aid the needs of the community through research-based extension programs.
Since its establishment, Hotel de SLSU serves as the training facility for the students that provides them hands-on training.
With CHED institutional grant funding support for this project, it intensifies students theoretically and technically by providing an avenue for holistic learning leading towards global competence in the vibrant hospitality and tourism industry. It will also showcase skills development and production, business for livelihood generation, and contributes to the socio–economic growth of the province and the region.
CHED's 9-million fund was granted to CHTM on August 15, 2022.
