NSTEP pays visit to Southern Leyte State U to monitor funded project in Saint Bernard town
The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Science and Technology Experts Pool (NSTEP) conducted on-site monitoring of its funded project granted to Southern Leyte State University on “Cultural Definition of Vulnerability to Impacts of Climate Change” in Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte on August 23, 2022.
The evaluators were composed of Senior Science Research and Project Assistants from Region VI and Region VIII chapters of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)—Ms. Hazel Lynn Maganto, Ms Jira Mamigo, and Ms. Gwendoline Seno.
Led by Associate Professor of the College of Teacher Education and Tomas Oppus Campus Director Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., the project was funded amounting to Php 600,000.00 to determine the cultural perspective of vulnerability to impacts of climate change on the different cultures and sub-cultures in the Philippines.
The monitoring is deemed necessary as it provides an avenue to determine possible interventions for the different constraints identified in the visit. Moreover, it paves way for discussion between both the DOST monitoring team and stakeholders for the improvement of the projects and to determine possible future projects for the University.
DOST, through its Grants-In-Aid (GIA) Program, aims to harness the country's scientific and technological capabilities to spur and attain sustainable economic growth and development through the funding of relevant science and technology (S&T) undertakings.
