Two faculty members elected as officers of IT educators’ society in Region 8
Two faculty members from the College of Computer Studies and Information Technology were elected as officers for the Eastern Visayas chapter of Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE).
Mr. Francis Rey Padao and Dr. Rhoderick Malangsa were chosen by the members of PSITE as Vice President for External Affairs and Public Relations Office, respectively, on May 13, 2021. They took oath on the same day where they were officially declared as members of this year’s set of officers.
Southern Leyte State University has been a member of PSITE since 2014 alongside other state universities and colleges (SUCs) and private higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region.
In Southern Leyte State U, Mr. Padao is currently the Director of the University Information Systems and Analytics (UISA), while Dr. Malangsa is the Director for Research and Innovation.
Both Mr. Padao and Dr. Malangsa held several positions in PSITE in the previous years where their leadership skills have been recognized.
PSITE Eastern Visayas is a recognized regional chapter of PSITE National, which envisions to be the premier national IT Professional organization transforming the academic community that
enables and sustains the growth of a knowledge-driven economy, its official Facebook page says.
This year’s elected PSITE Region VIII President is Dr. Reymon Santiañez, the University System Administrator of Biliran Province State University (BIPSU).
The election, declaration of elected officers, and their oathtaking happened in BIPSU during the regional IT confab, its first hybrid regional assembly where some of the participants were present personally and virtually.
