Dr. Marie Khul Langub, Noreen Elmundo occupy seats at SLSU Board of Regents
The new President of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Faculty Organization, and the new President of the Federation of Supreme Student Council (FSSC) now occupy seats at SLSU Board of Regents (BOR) as representatives of faculty and student sectors in the highest governing body of the University.
Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, a faculty of the Department of Teacher Education in SLSU Main Campus, and Noreen M. Elmundo, a junior Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from SLSU Main Campus, took their separate oath of office as the new SLSU Faculty Regent before CHED Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag on March 26, 2021, and on May 21, 2021, respectively.
Dr. Langub will serve as the faculty regent for two years. She succeeded Mr. Wade Lim, the Director of SLSU Hinunangan Campus.
Meanwhile, Elmundo will serve as the student regent for one year until a new FSSC President is elected. She took the place of the former FSSC President, Ma. Dhebbie Anne Repollo.
BOR Vice Chairperson and SLSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, together with Board Secretary Mabel R. Calva and Alumni Regent Samuel L. Seron, witnessed the intimate events. Other BOR members were also able to virtually witness the oath-taking ceremony.
In her message of acceptance, Dr. Langub is humbled and honored to have been entrusted with the responsibility as the new Faculty Regent. She also thanked the former Faculty Regents for staying focused on the fundamental strengths of the university, how it could be improved, and how it can be best positioned for the future.
“Despite the unprecedented events confronting the university especially in this time of pandemic, as the new Student Regent, I will step in, help bring our students together, and amplify their voices, in the best long-term interests of the whole studentry,” Elmundo said. Dr. Langub finished her Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Physics and Technology from Philippine Normal University. She also finished her Master of Arts in Teaching Major in Natural Science, and Doctor of Education Major in Educational Management in SLSU Main Campus and SLSU Tomas Oppus, respectively. Presently, she is now pursuing her degree in Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education Major in Physics at University of San Carlos.
On the other hand, Elmundo went to Hinunangan East Central School during her elementary days. She finished her high school with high honors at Holy Rosary Academy of Hinunangan Inc.
Leadership is not new to both. Dr. Langub was designated as M&E Unit Head for Research and Development Program. Presently, she serves as the Director for Executive Operations and Quality Assurance.
Elmundo became the President of Supreme Student Government during high school. In college, she served as the President of the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service and the Congress President of Supreme Student Republic-Main Campus.
President Yepes emphasized that Dr. Langub and Elmundo shall serve as the strong voice to BOR on important and pressing matters concerning the faculty members and students.
