SLSU Students and Faculty Join Multinational Cohort in UMN’s Indonesian Experience Program
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) officially commenced its participation in the second round of the three-week Indonesian Experience Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), as SLSU students and faculty were formally welcomed during the opening ceremony held today, January 19, 2026.
The second round of the international cultural exchange program brings together participants from Asia and Europe, fostering a diverse and multicultural learning environment. Participating countries include the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Palestine, Poland, and the United Kingdom, reflecting the program’s expanding international scope.
In the days ahead, SLSU participants will engage in AI and innovation workshops, company visits, and urban learning experiences in Jakarta, and cultural immersion activities, including traditional arts, cuisine, and heritage tours such as Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). Such immersion contributes to achieving key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by promoting international collaboration, technological learning, and cross-border partnerships.
SLSU is represented by seven (7) students and two (2) faculty members from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), Faculty of Education, Technology, and Innovation (FETI), Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Faculty of Technology (FOT), and the Faculty of Computer Studies and Information Technology (FCSIT), reaffirming the university’s commitment to global engagement, intercultural understanding, and internationalization in higher education. The qualified student participants are Felmer R. Anocop (Bachelor of Industrial Technology, FOT), Carmelle N. Antegra and Rushel Mara G. Barcelon (Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, FCSIT), JV Zion F. Sala (Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, FETI), Achaiah Lou P. Duarte (Bachelor of Elementary Education, FETI), and Joseph Addison P. Aparece and Paul Albert N. Ramos (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, FOE). The faculty delegates are Lourd Ive M. Visbal, Faculty Member of the Physical Education Unit under FAS, and Dr. Lorelie J. Paloma, Faculty Member of FETI.
