SLSU Bontoc, WISE Foundation Donate Books to Nava Elementary School

Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – Bontoc Campus, in partnership with the Women in Service for Everyone (WISE) Foundation, reached out to young learners of Nava Elementary School in Barangay Nava, Hinunangan through a meaningful book donation drive on July 3, 2025.
Led by WISE Foundation Operations Manager Mam Laarnie Openiano Cabatingan and SLSU Bontoc Campus Librarian Ms. Lowella Prado, the initiative turned over twenty-eight (28) academic reference books, including a Cebuano Dictionary, to the school.
The donation was warmly received by Ms. Wilvera B. Degamo, a teacher from Nava Elementary School, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the school community.
Ms. Prado shared that this collaborative effort forms part of SLSU’s ongoing Book Drive Project. “We aim to enrich the learning resources of public schools and encourage children to value education as a tool for personal and community growth,” she added.
Both SLSU Bontoc and WISE Foundation continue to share the same vision of empowering the youth through education.
“SLSU Bontoc through its advocacy-driven programs and WISE through its commitment to provide books and resources to underserved schools,” Prado expressed.
With this initiative, WISE and SLSU Bontoc hope to inspire Nava’s learners to dream bigger and realize that education holds the power to transform lives.
This initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
