IIEE Students and MENRO Lead Joint Environmental Action in Bontoc
The clean-up drive conducted in Casao, Bontoc, Southern Leyte, transcends a routine activity, serving as a meaningful initiative that demonstrates the power of collective action and environmental responsibility.
Led by Rolando II T. Baybayon, the first-year IIEE students from SLSU unified under the objective of promoting sanitation and protecting natural resources. Their efforts aimed to mobilize community participation in long-term environmental preservation.
Under the guidance of subject instructor Mr. Noiret Labata, the group effectively organized the activity, ensuring that all efforts contributed to a safer and healthier environment.
The support and coordination of Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Gemma Ambuyoc, proved instrumental to the success of the clean-up drive. This partnership strengthened the collaboration between the student body and the local environmental office.
Throughout the activity, students showed teamwork, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility. From collecting waste to properly segregating it, every action reflected their commitment to creating a cleaner and greener environment. More than just cleaning, the experience helped raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management and environmental care.
This initiative serves as a reminder that meaningful change often begins with individual commitment. The project demonstrates that collective action, regardless of the scale of the initial effort, can generate a lasting and transformative impact on the community when driven by a shared purpose.
