SLSU - ITSO conducts Hands-On Writeshop for Patent Drafters on IP Awareness, Patent Search, and Drafting Patentable Intellectual Properties
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) recently concluded a pivotal training event to equip newly designated patent drafters with essential intellectual property (IP) protection skills and knowledge. Held from February 28 to March 1, 2024, the "Hands-On Writeshop for Patent Drafters on IP Awareness, Patent Search, and Drafting Patentable Intellectual Properties" provided participants with comprehensive sessions covering various aspects of the IP system. Through practical exercises and hands-on learning, attendees delved into the intricacies of patent searching, invention spotting, and drafting patent claims and specifications. This training is a crucial foundation for patent drafters to effectively fulfill their roles in safeguarding intellectual assets.
Organized by the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) at SLSU, the writeshop emphasized the importance of understanding the IP landscape and the nuances of patent protection. Participants were equipped with the necessary skills to navigate the patent application process, conduct thorough patent searching, and identify the scope of protection required for technologies or products. By empowering patent drafters with these skills, SLSU aims to strengthen its commitment to innovation-driven development and foster a culture of IP protection within academic circles.
As the participants apply their newfound knowledge and skills as patent drafters, SLSU anticipates a ripple effect across disciplines, catalyzing innovation and creativity. By investing in developing patent drafters and promoting a collaborative environment, SLSU reaffirms its dedication to shaping the future of academia and contributing to the broader innovation landscape. This training enhances individual capabilities and reinforces SLSU's position at the forefront of intellectual property management, aligning with global trends and best practices in technology transfer and innovation-driven economies.
