Food Tech faculty, students plant 200 trees in Sogod town
A total of 200 Mahogany trees were planted at Subang Daku Riverside, Conception 1, Sogod, Southern Leyte on April 29, 2022 by the faculty members and students of the Department of Food Science Technology (DFoST) in Southern Leyte State University.
This initiative is spearheaded by the officers of the Philippine Association of Food Technologists-Southern Leyte State U chapter, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, through the Municipal Environment Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Sogod who donated the Mahogany seedlings and helped with the activity.
This initiative is in line with the commemoration of this year's Earth Day and in support to the #LetTheEarthBreathe movement.
The tree planting activity is for students to understand the importance of protecting and preserving the ecosystem, know how one tree can change a thing, and most especially to develop love and concern for our environment to help lessen the unfavorable impacts of climate change.
