SLSU participates in CSC’s health and wellness program, announced 4th place

Out of 32 entries from the different government sectors in the region including state universities and colleges (SUCs), Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus was hailed 4th place in the recently concluded "Zoombandemic", announced by the regional office of Civil Service Commission (CSC) on September 6, 2021.

"Zoombandemic" is the official kick-off activity in celebration of the 121st Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with a 10-year theme: “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes. “

The theme reflects the path that the civil service has to take ‘to build on the gains of last year’s modernization efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the role of HR in building a competent and credible workforce in the new normal.’

The activity serves as CSC’s health and wellness program for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle amid adversities.

"Zoombandemic" aims to raise funds for the Pondong Pamanang Lingkod Bayani (PLBi) program, a special project which recognizes state employees who died in the line of duty by granting posthumous awards and citation, scholarship and discounts for immediate family members, and a one-time grant financial assistance of Php 100,000.00.

According to CSC, the award is opportune, especially in this time of crisis, where many of our frontline health workers died in combating COVID-19.

James Vincent Caingcoy, the choreographer and a Physical Education (PE) Instructor of Southern Leyte State University-Hinunangan Campus, was named one of the "Bibozoombastic", an award given to the participants who showed energy and enthusiasm during the synchronized Zumba.

Meanwhile, the regional offices of Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Department of Education (DepEd)-Baybay City Division, were announced as first, second, and third, respectively.

The month of September was declared as the Civil Service Month pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997. This is in observance of the establishment of the Philippine Civil Service by virtue of Public Law No. 5 or An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands on September 19, 1900, CSC website states.
