SLSU, RICHA Showcase Local Products and Extension Projects

On February 28, 2025, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Tomas Oppus Campus hosted the Extension Projects Exhibit and Product Showcase in Brgy. Hinapo, Southern Leyte. In attendance were local community members, SLSU faculty, visitors from HUTECH University in Vietnam, and the Rural Improvement Club Hinapo Association (RICHA) to celebrate SLSU's extension projects and local entrepreneurship. The event aimed to present the impact of SLSU-Tomas Oppus' extension projects, promote local entrepreneurship, facilitate dialogue between faculty and visitors, and raise awareness about sustainability in community development.
Held at the Brgy. Hinapo community center, the exhibit featured products such as handmade rags and handicrafts made from recycled materials, alongside SLSU-TO RIES extension projects. These products were the outputs of beneficiaries of the BSBA extension project, developed through the skills training and entrepreneurial programs offered by SLSU. The event also provided an opportunity for faculty from HUTECH University to offer insights and foster potential collaborations.
Attendees explored the Extension Projects Display, which focused on issues like financial literacy and education. The Product Showcase highlighted the creativity of local beneficiaries who produced items from upcycled clothing. Live demonstrations allowed visitors to see how these sustainable products were made.
The Extension Projects Exhibit and Product Showcase was a success, demonstrating the positive impact of SLSU’s programs and the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable development. The event reinforced the potential for future growth in Brgy. Hinapo through continued community engagement, education, and entrepreneurship.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the event contributed to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by fostering sustainable development, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting educational opportunities for the local community.
